I’ve started using netgalley?

Hi guys, I thought it was time to talk about netgalley! but first, a quick life update to keep you all in the loop. I’m about to start two weeks of full time work which is going to be very tiring for me so there is a chance I wont be posting anything new till the 18th or so. Another thing, is that I’ve signed up for a year long writing course at my local polytech! I’m super excited

so months and months ago, I tried out netgalley once but got denied for everything (I had read 2 books & rated them, I suppose I didn’t look too great in their standards) but recently I wanted to get back into netgalley as sometimes it allows me to get books I’m otherwise unable to, so I’ve followed some popular ideas, and have gotten quite a few books that are open for anybody to request and read.

  1. Depression & other magic tricks (read & rated 3 stars)
  2. The other side of having
  3. the chaos of longing (read & rated 3 stars)
  4. broadcast
  5. the ninth circle
  6. lighter than my shadow (read and rated 2.5 stars)

AND, I got accepted for some books that aren’t out yet!!!!!!

  1. BONE – Yrsa Daley-Ward (publishing 26th September)
  2. ARTEMIS – Andy Weir (publishing 14th November)
  3. STARLINGS – Jo Walton (Publishing 30th January 2018)

I’ve finally started requesting books that aren’t out yet, some from publishers I already work with (I really like to read ebooks & physical copies at the same time) and some from the publishers I haven’t had the chance to work with yet. So I’m waiting to hear back from alot of people about books I want (they’ll all probably be denials but you know what, that’s okay) I’m planning on making mini reviews for these books from netgalley, they won’t be as indepth in most cases, and will be going up on the days I don’t have anything scheduled, but let’s see how I do on Netgalley!

do you review on Netgalley?

Until next time,

  1. I love NetGalley and it’s probably where I get most of my books these days (although I’ve also now discovered Readers First). I’ve been using it for a couple of years now and still get knock backs (usually from specific publishers) but I always figure there’s no harm in asking.

I’d definitely recommend starting out with books from the Read Now section. It’s a great way to boost your feedback ratio and I’ve found some hidden gems in there (Carry On, for example). Just don’t do what I did, get overly excited and request more books than you can read. I get the feeling feedback ratio is important.

    1. I’ve got about 5-6 left to read which is already too many but I’m trying to stop myself asking for anymore πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… I’ve heard that when you get the reviews back also impacts your ratio. I’m just trying to keep my ratio up decently high because I want to be approved for as many things as possible πŸ˜‚
