Bizarre murders are discovered in the castle of Prince Vlad the Impaler, otherwise known as Dracula. Could it be a copycat killer… or has the depraved prince been brought back to life?

Following the grief and horror of her discovery of Jack the Ripper’s true identity, Audrey Rose Wadsworth has no choice but to flee London and its memories. Together with the arrogant yet charming Thomas Cresswell, she journeys to the dark heart of Romania, home to one of Europe’s best schools of forensic medicine…and to another notorious killer, Vlad the Impaler, whose thirst for blood became legend.

But her life’s dream is soon tainted by blood-soaked discoveries in the halls of the school’s forbidding castle, and Audrey Rose is compelled to investigate the strangely familiar murders. What she finds brings all her terrifying fears to life once again

It was so great to get back into the world of Stalking Jack the Ripper; to meet Audrey and Thomas again, his snark and her smarts were just as amazing as in the first book and I fell in love all over again

This book starts straight off after Stalking Jack the Ripper, with Audrey dealing with the blow of her brother being Jack. Audrey isn’t dealing with it well, but is trying to distract herself by preparing for their trip to Romania; to the best school her father can get her in to.

I think one of my favourite parts of this novel, was the character development in Audrey. She went from a grieving girl, astounded by the loss of her brother, to a woman who could deal with far more than even I could, she really grew as a person and it was amazing to watch. For me personally, the growth in her character made her a more believable and relatable character.

This novel takes no stops as from the get go, they’re solving a new murder and hearing tales of someone more murderous than Jack the Ripper— Prince Dracula. The people of Romania believe he is back and alive and while murder is happening all around them, it’s time for them to solve something again. Obviously, it’s not very believable that two young adults ( they’re around 17 I think ?) but it was still such a fun ride that you often forgot the unbelievable parts as you whizzed through the book.

Overall the setting, plot, and characters were all really good, and I loved this book just as much as I enjoyed the first. Kerri has a way with words and if you’re looking for a creepy halloween read, this is the one for you !

until next time,
