if you saw my last post you’d know I’m off to Europe for a month! (my flight leaves in three hours… eeeeeeeep! thank god for scheduling!)
I’m super excited but there is one big problem, its a 27 hour flight to get to Europe !!!!! I’m literally going to die of bordem, aren’t I? Well, I have a plan. Books!
I’m going to take three physical books with me, and a collection of books on my phone!
The ones on my phone are too numerous to list, I have Skyward, Smoke In the Sun, Legendary, Birthday girl, and Royal Assassin. I’ll focus on those five (since I’m currently reading smoke in the sun) but I also have my kindle library with well over twenty books that I could pick from there too.
So what books am I taking to Europe?
THE SECRET HISTORY – DONNA TART
Something about this novel feels like it is the perfect novel to read in Europe. It’s just over 500 pages which means it’s nice and lengthy, but the edition I have is small enough to carry around comfortably. This however has become the book I want to start with on my flights
2. THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE – SAMANTHA SHANNON
This is a beast. It is a living and breathing beast, honestly. It’s over 800 pages! I’m hoping that this novel will help make the plane rides go much faster, considering I have two 27 hour flights and a couple of 1-3 hour flights too. Though I won’t be reading this one on the first plane, and not until the evening of the first day.
3. THE DREAM THIEVES – MAGGIE STIEVATER
This is the shortest book I’m bringing with me, but this is also a book I like to take my time with. When I read the first one, I read it slowly and savored the poetic writing. I’m hoping to do the same here again.
While I tend to read 100 pages an hour, all of these books have been called dense, the kind of books you need to take your time with which is exactly what I need because who wants to run out of things to read in the middle of the airport ????
Anyway, if you travel,
What books have you taken with you on your travels?
