I hope your day has been full of books and not too many worms.
Today, is a late wrap up. Mostly because I’m in the process of buying a house, working and I was doing the Reading rush!
Which, speaking of, I won’t have a separate post, simply because I don’t have time, But I finished all seven challenges, read four books and DNFéd one! They’re mentioned here.
So let’s just get into it.
FENCE #1 – C.S PASCAT
This was cute, and a great start. I was hooked and loved the characters
FENCE #2 – C.S PASCAT
This continued the story nicely, but because of it’s formatting it fell a little flat since it was too short for anything to happen in.
BLOOM – KEVIN PANETTA
This was full of summery vibes, toxic friendships and cute, heartwarming romance. I really enjoyed reading this and watching the characters grow. The art was beautiful too.
TOKYO GHOUL VOL.1 – SIU ISHIDA
I went into this with too higher expectations in all honesty. It was a decent start, I liked the main characters and the story that was being presented but it wasn’t the best by any means.
EMPRESS OF ALL SEASONS – EMIKO JEAN
This is a new favourite for sure. I was wrapped up in the lore, characters and world building. It was heart breaking and just beautiful.
THE FELL – ROBERT JENKINS
This was a slow but amazing read. I ended up enjoying my time with this, and the more I think about it the more I enjoy it. It felt alot like a classic novel.
I HEAR THE SUNSPOT: THEORY OF HAPPINESS – YUKI FUMINO
This was adorable, miscommunication and seperation lead this story in a new direction but the ending was so heart warming that I just couldn’t resist giving it five stars.
THIS WAS FOR THE MORE THAN FIVE WORDS IN THE TITLE CHALLENGE.
ATTACK ON TITAN VOL.3 – HAJIME ISAYAMA
This is where you can see the story really start to kick off, which is great. But in exchange for the story starting, there was a loss in impact on your emotions.
THIS WAS FOR THE READ IN IN ONE PLACE & A NON HUMAN MC CHALLENGES.
THE EYES OF TAMBURAH – MARIA V. SNYDER
This was……. disappointing. It had a beautiful world and complex system of living, and mythology. I loved that, but it was overshadowed by Mary Sue characters and cliche after cliche.
GIRLS OF PAPER AND FIRE – NATASHA NGAN
This was not as good as I was expecting, but it was still a beautiful and diverse read that I enjoyed. I really loved Wren and her secret friend.
THIS WAS FOR THE PURPLE ON THE COVER CHALLENGE.
THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN – PAULA HAWKINS
1 STAR – DNF
God, this was utter garbage. Bad characters and dense, forced writing let this novel down. Even the audiobook on 2x speed couldn’t save this mess. I dnféd at about 200 pages.
THIS WAS FOR THE 2018 TBR AND MOVIE ADAPTATION CHALLENGES.
PRINCE OF THORNS – MARK LAWRENCE
I should’ve known I was going to love this. A bloodthirsty 14 year old going after the crown with a band of mercenaries? Yes, yes, yes.
MY TOP 3 BOOKS WERE…
- EMPRESS OF ALL SEASONS – EMIKO JEAN
- I HEAR THE SUNSPOT:THEORY OF HAPPINESS – YUKI FUMINO
- PRINCE OF THORNS – MARK LAWRENCE
