Today I’ve been lucky enough to be tagged in something and I’m super honored. The lovely Sofii from ABOOKATHOUGHT tagged me in THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD. If you don’t already follow and interact with her you should, her graphics are GORGEOUS and she is such a kind-hearted person that deserves many great things.

So, onto the questions she picked, and if you want to answer some of these, feel free to tell me your answers in the comments below!

1 What was the last book you strongly disliked?

There’s alot of books I’ve felt eh about this year, but strongly dislike? Nothing is genuinely coming to mind so I’ll check goodreads!
The closest to strongly dislike would be EVERYWHERE EVERYTHING, EVERYONE by Katy Warner. The writing was childish and the way the MC talked was all in slang and it was just a frustrating mess.

2 How does your star rating system work for your reviews (if you use one)?

It’s the basic five star rating system!

1 star means it was horrible.
2 stars mean it was pretty bad
3 stars means it was okay, middle of the road kind of thing
4 stars means it was actually pretty damn good. I would recommend this book to most people
5 stars means it’s an all-time favorite.

3 What are your favorite pizza toppings?

Honestly, I normally get this cheesy garlic pizza, so, cheese.

4 Would you rather read a great plot with mediocre characters, or a boring plot with amazing characters?

Boring plot for sure. For me, characters make or break the book, and I’ve read far too many books with great plots and bad characters this year.

5 How many books are you currently reading, and which one is your favorite so far?

Currently just one at a time. I’m trying to slow down in my reading a little. I used to read 2-3 at a time and would end up putting one down and then half the time I wouldn’t even pick it back up. So, one. Currently, I’m about to pick up THE GIRL KING, and its review should be out this week this post goes live because scheduling is amazing.

6 What was the last book review you posted?

As of writing this, it was EYES OF TAMBURAH BY MARIA V SNYDER. ugh, such a let down of a book.

7 Do you prefer MG, YA, NA, or adult books?

It’s a three way tie for me, is that allowed? I love YA, NA and ADULT. I will happily pick up any of those three genres in a heartbeat. MG books just aren’t normally for me. It’s rare I find one I actually really like.

8 Is there a popular author you’re NOT interested in reading anything by? (Elaborate if you’re comfortable doing so!)

Sarah J Mass. I’ve read 3 of her books and that was enough time wasted. I don’t like her characters and all the problematic things in her writing. BUT, I can see why others love her and you do you !

9 What marginalized rep would you most strongly like to see more of in books?

Listen, I’m a white female, so this isn’t REALLY my place to say anything, I’m pretty well 100% represented, even down to my MI’s. So, something I haven’t seen a lot of would be physically impaired MC’s, or Pacific Islander MC’s!

10 Do you listen to music while reading?

Yup, though I don’t need it. I either have silence, or stick on my “Liked from Radio” playlist off spotify. It’s full of songs I know well so I don’t tend to get distracted…… unless the book sucks then I lie there singing instead of reading.

11 Do you prefer book twitter or bookstagram?

Bookstagram. I love taking photos and in all honestly, the general vibe of bookstagram is far more positive. I’ve just seen too many witch hunts over on book twitter to ever feel 100% comfortable there.

  1. Congrats on your award! ❤ I loved reading your responses and agree with quite a few of them. Especially about some Pacific Island rep in books! Or even Aussie rep… it’s oddly lacking which is a shame! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. I feel the same way about this year’s reads, there were a lot of “meh” books (I need to check my average rating for this year) but nothing TOO bad.

Uh, I actually never tried the cheesy garlic pizza :O but it must be delicious! I always get something with olives. Nhoooom, olives… Okay.. now I want pizza 😀

The 4th question is very difficult! Idk, I usually don’t even remember characters’ names, but I guess they do matter?!

Thank you so much for tagging me!!! Your questions will be so fun to answer, especially the three other hobbies aside from blogging, erm… reading, reading and reading?! 😀
