SEPTEMBER WRAP UP !

BLOG POST PSD (1) (1) (1) (5)

Hello Bookworms!

September was a calm month for me reading-wise, because of ARCAUGUST, I had a very small TBR of books I NEEDED to get to, which meant I got to do a lot of mood reading which worked out really well for me. Because of how well my reading month went, I’m super excited to keep reading at this pace! So let’s chat about all the good books I read this month.

TBR JAR PICK: A SHORT BOOK

This was a short but informative book. I learnt a lot about how some of the strifes women go through relate back to classical times and how classical events lead us to where we were. It was interesting and a good place to start if you’re curious about feminism.

This was a fun adn quick read told completely in texts. I really enjoyed the format this was told in as it was super unique but also made for a quick read. There was nothing phenomenal about this novel, but I did really enjoy my time with it and loved that there was a Bi and Demi main character!

SORCERY OF THORNS
MARGARET ROGERSON

This is quite possibly my favourite book of the month. I loved the writing, the characters, the romance, the adventure, EVERYTHING. Silas was my absolute favourite and there was not a thing I disliked about this novel.

REVIEW HERE

I have to say this was the most disappointing read. Simply because my hopes were up so high for this. The characters were great but the plot was just terrible and this felt like a horrible ending to an amazing series.

I got this at an event with work and while I read it in one afternoon, it was lacking in a few points. It had great characters and writing but it lacked in a sense of danger and fright. But in saying that, this is a debut so I’ll be keeping an eye out for any more novels this author writes.

TBR JAR PICK: LOWEST RATED BOOK ON YOUR TBR

Since I went into this knowing it was the lowest-rated book on my TBR, I didn’t have very high expectations which helped a lot with my enjoyment of this novel. It had so much potential to be something more, and I definitely think the authors next books could be great. But this wasn’t, it needed a few more rounds of editing and expanding.

Gosh. This is just so so so pure, I honestly adored these manga’s and how sweet they are! This deals with Trauma and death in such beautiful ways, it takes everything so seriously, and it shows the characters dealing with it! I think the way this weaves in humor, romance, softness and serious topics is just beautiful.

REVIEW COMING

I’m probably one of the few people not hyped for this book in all honesty. It was not something I was suuuuuuper excited to read. BUT, I should have known the hype had some basis. This was sweet and a fast read. I enjoyed my time with it and while it’s not the most amazing book in the world I did enjoy it and think its super important for korean americans!

MY TOP 3 BOOKS WERE

  1. SORCERY OF THORNS
  2. GIVEN VOL 1 & 2

TBR JAR

So I did 3/4 of the challenges, and I would have done all 4 if I didn’t decide I had no interest in the fourth book. It’s gone back on my shelf for a second chace but after that, I’ll get rid of it most likely.

Overall though, I feel like the TBR jar was a success, it got me reading two books I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise so I’m really happy with how well I did.

So for a single month, I am insanely happy with how I went with this. I feel like I had a really good month of reads, and even the bad ones didn’t bring down my reading mood enough to stop me!

Are any of these your favourite books? Tell me below!
