NOVEMBER WRAP UP
are you well?
November started off VERY strong for reading. I almost want to say it started off as one of the strongest reading months! I had read four books by the 9th and
A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC
V E SCHWAB
This was my first V.E Schwab book! I have to admit I was expecting something mind blowing and it was really good, but not quite enough for a 5 star. I have gone out to by the trilogy now and I can’t wait to continue.
C S PASCAT
Oh my heart! I forgot how much I love this! I had read the first two single issues in this combined edition earlier this year, so I flipped through them and then continued on with the other two and was SO happy. There is something about a sports based drama that gets me every time.
THE HAZEL WOOD
I really didn’t like this. It was bland and boring and I honestly don’t have anything else to say about it.
THE GIRL THE SEA GAVE BACK
NEW SOUTH BOOKS
I really enjoyed my time with this one! I curled up and read most of it in a day while the weather was trash. It was a fun, easy read.
This was a book I kept putting off. I really shouldn’t have though. It was great and it broke my heart. A mini review is coming very very soon!
NEW SOUTH BOOKS
I have to say, this has a GORGEOUS hardback embossed cover under the dust jacket. My full review is coming ASAP. But in short, this had AMAZING world-building and such a unique magic system, but the rest was kind of cliche.
DAISY JONES & THE SIX
TAYLOR JENKINS REID
The only reason I was remotely interested in reading this was the fact that emmmabooks had read this what, three times this year? Then an arc was avaliable to keep at my work, so I grabbed it, knowing I would read it one day. Well, my thoughts for it will be in the same mini review as CK but I think it’s safe to say I get the hype.
I found this thanks to a booktubers recommendations, brought it, and read it all in one day. It was just fun and romantic, unbelievable and honestly? Just a great time. I don’t need my romance novels to be anything more than fun, and this was just, one of the best ones I’ve ever read honestly.
HEARTSTOPPER VOL. 2
I pre ordered this at my work, and honestly, that was a GREAT idea. This was soft and cute, but also dealt with the important topic of coming out. I feel like it handled things so perfectly and I was constantly laughing or smiling so this was just, great.
THE LOST SISTERS
I recieved Queen of Nothing to review and decided I should finally pick up this novella, to prepare myself for the finale of this series. I have to admit, it really gives you an insight into Taryn and her choices, but it did not make me like her.
THE QUEEN OF NOTHING
ALLEN & UNWIN
This was, a let down. I will admit, I loved the plot, and the happy ending but I had a few issues along the way that just, turned out to really hinder how much I enjoyed this book. But you’ll hear all about that n my review coming soon.
THE STRANGERS WE KNOW
I read this in a whole day but I still don’t have alot of positive things to say about this other than it was an easy and fast read that I sped through. It lacked character development and had some other issues that you’ll hear about in my full review next week.
MY TOP 3 BOOKS WERE:
- CROOKED KINGDOM
- HEARTSTOPPER VOL 2.
- FENCE VOL 1.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS MONTHS READING:
So obviously, this was an AMAZING reading month. I did some thinking as to why it was so amazing and I think it really falls down to the fact that I prioritised reading for the first month in a long time. Normally yeah, I’ll put read or finish a book into my weekly or daily to-do list, but rarely will I wake up with the intention of reading a heap, or even a whole book in a single day. I did a lot of that this month and I honestly want to continue that as I found the practice really relaxing. Sure, I might not remember every detail as well as if I spent ages on the book, BUT, it was fun and relaxing.
